Do Leprechauns collect coins

I'm originally from Texas and since moving to the northeast in the late 70's, it seems like I've heard of a different tradition each year. Last year was the first time I've ever heard of setting traps for leprechauns. You should see my daughter's room. There's a little trail of pennies, leading up to nickels (the newest varieties last), then dimes,

quarters, state quarters, etc. This trail goes on with each few steps becoming more enticing to a numismatic minded greedy leprechaun. There's even a little makeshift ladder that leads to a plastic container where the real prizes are. Amongst the coin tubes, my daughter left a Sacagawea dollar coin. Apparently, the poor little guy won't be able to control himself and opt to drop into the plastic container.

If I hear little green screams in the night, I don't think I'd be able to forgive myself if I didn't let the little guy go. Perhaps I could convince him to rehab with some coins on approval. Happy St. Patrick's Day.
