This coin, first issued in 1921, commemorates the declaration of peace between the United States, Germany and Austria. A female head is on the front, symbolizing Liberty, wearing a tiara of light rays, and the word "Liberty"; on the reverse is an eagle perched on a mountain top, holding an olive branch in its talons, witnessing the dawn of a new day. The word "Peace" also appears on the back. These coins contain 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper. |
